News update!
AMC Design has been awarded the overall winner award of the Residential Budget Up to £50,000 category at the prestigious SBID International Design Awards.
Receiving the accolade at the awards ceremony held at the five star Landmark Hotel in London on Friday 3rd November, we had two projects shortlisted in the coveted ‘Residential Budget up to £50k’ category.
Our founder and managing director Ann Marie Cousins collected the honour for its Owler Park project, a redesign of a 1960s family home, overlooking the stunning Wharfedale Valley.
“We were absolutely stunned when our name was announced”, says Ann Marie. “To receive an award of this magnitude against such strong competition is an incredible honour, and for the final decision to have been decided by members of the public makes it even more special (90% of the vote was from the judges, with the final 10% from the public).
“Owler Park was a wonderful project, which enabled us to showcase what beautiful homes our small corner of Yorkshire has to offer, and also what an incredible canvas the humble 1960s home can make.”
The SBID International Design Awards celebrates the best of the interior design profession from across the globe. The awards recognise, reward and celebrate design excellence across a broad range of categories spanning interior design, fit-out and product.
Acknowledging all aspects of the industry, the highly coveted awards were determined by a three-tier judging process, which began with a specially selected technical panel of industry specialists, eliminating those that did not meet the strict criteria. The second stage saw the entries judged by a team of internationally renowned judges, sharing their wealth of expertise, but the final decision was ultimately down to the public, who cast the deciding vote.
The main focus of the Owler Park project was to create an open plan living area within the home, where the owners could socialise and make the most of the scenery of the Wharfe Valley. The owners, who had previously lived in a Victorian house, were keen to create a sociable space, in which they could enjoy both a cosy family evening and a large party of friends and family, all while respecting the period of the property.
“I feel extremely privileged to work on exciting projects like Owler Park and I wish to thank the AMC team, our suppliers and the owners of Owler Park for allowing this wonderful project to have taken place.”
